About Marc
An Artistic Journey Through Aviation and Space, with a few landscapes thrown in.

Marc Lee is an oil painter working out of his studio in western Arizona. Before moving to Arizona, Marc grew up in Southern California- though he was originally born in Costa Rica- and came to the United States at age five with his family and a passion for two things: airplanes and creative arts. Falling in love with guitar as a young teen, Marc forged a musical career as a singer and songwriter, including winning two writing awards from ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers), and having songs on popular radio. His music has also appeared internationally, on stage, on television, and in films.
Though he began drawing in 2001 using charcoal and graphite, Marc has been painting since early 2020. He is largely self-taught, having been drawn to the Hudson School landscape painters after seeing their works in museums and books while in elementary school. Marc says he also applied techniques he learned while watching television painters like Bill Alexander and Bob Ross. Marc specializes in aviation, landscapes, UFOs, and sci-fi fantasy, and his chosen medium is oil paint on canvas or hardboard.
Marc is an accomplished pilot, having soloed an airplane at 16 years old. He has been a flight instructor since 2013 and has given over 4,000 hours of dual instruction. He is also a commercial-rated pilot, flying in various commercial capacities. Marc has also been an aviation journalist for decades, with his articles appearing in magazines around the world. His first novel, "From Out of the Wind" was published globally in 2023 and is available on Amazon in both print and audio versions. Marc was also an adjunct professor of aviation for a large southern California college. He is a specialist in vintage aircraft, and owns and flies a 1947 Cessna 140 taildragger.
When he's not painting or flying, Marc writes and produces aviation courses for student pilots through a major ground school course provider. He also gives specialized training in taildragger aircraft. Marc's paintings have appeared in many California and Arizona galleries and exhibitions. His painting of the Betty and Barney Hill alien abduction experience was displayed in a special exhibit on UFO's in 2021, and his aviation work has appeared in various galleries and museums.
